If you work in church communications, there is always a lot to learn. Once you learn it, it usually immediately changes. YouTube is one of the biggest things on the internet at this point. Many churches and organizations that are totally killing it in social media are still not tapping the potential of YouTube. I am not ready to say The U is in the category of killing it in social media but I know we are still not tapping the potential of YouTube. If you aren’t using YouTube at all or, if you are posting stuff there but not really thinking about how to get people interacting with your content, read Sean Cannell’s book YouTube For Churches: How to Make Better Videos, Grow Your Church and Reach More People with YouTube. It is a quick read, it is thorough, it is focused on churches and it is updated to reflect the ever changing organism that is YouTube. If your church does not currently do anything on YouTube, this book is a great place to start and will guide you through setting up an account and getting some content posted. If your church has a YouTube account, unless you are a YouTube ninja, you will likely find that this book will give you enough ideas for immediate improvements that it will have paid for itself by the time you are done reading.
I am always looking for new books and resources to learn from and share. Feel free to share yours in the comments.
